My name is Leanne Sawchuk and I’m a self-representing Artist.  Art has always been a re-occurring symbol in the story of my life. As far back as I can remember, art has always given me a sense of joy, freedom, and escape.  Art has been my outlet not only for creative energy but my own medicine to get me through my own personal battle.

After graduating from York University I knew I wanted to utilize art not only for my own purpose, but to help others through their own ordeals as well.  I gained employment at an organization which provides support to adults and children with various disorders such as Autism, Schizophrenia, Multiple Personality Disorder, Tourettes, Rage and Aspbergers.  It was at this point in my journey that I confirmed that art really does serve a true and genuine purpose.  It was during my time working with these individuals and their families when I developed, implemented and lead and Art Therapy Program.  Words alone cannot describe what an amazing experience this was.  I knew then that I was not only meant to gravitate towards Art, but towards helping others with various needs through creative expression.

One thing I know for certain, my journey is far from being over.
